Texoma Comic-Con returns to Durant for second year

DURANT, Oklahoma (KXII) – Over the weekend, Comic-Con got here to Durant for the second year in a row, offering a possibility to step out of Texoma and right into a whole new world.

“We’re bringing in some culture to the city that nobody’s really seen before,” organizer Chris Hays stated. “When you see all the people walking through the doors, it’s like they were dying for something like this.”

It’s not daily you meet a gaggle of Ghostbusters, or come face to face with the Predator himself, however at Comic-Con, something is feasible.

“There’s nothing like this that happens up here in the Texoma area, so we came up and the response has been phenomenal,” Hays stated.

The present stuffed the Choctaw Event Center to the brim, and there was cosplaying, artwork, jewellery, distinctive trinkets, and naturally, heaps and plenty of comics.

Max Fulton, proprietor of Mad Max Minis, makes hand-painted minifigures for tabletop gaming like Dungeons and Dragons.

This was his first year as a vendor on the conference, and he stated the turnout was nice.

“Being able to bring new people and show them that it’s not scary, it’s not overwhelming and really make sure they have a positive experience with it, it’s my favorite thing,” he stated

The conference additionally opened the door for followers to join with their favourite entertainers, like Austin St. John, the unique Red Power Ranger.

“I kind of feel like Dad to about 400 million children around the world and man, it’s epic,” St. John stated. “It doesn’t matter where I go, somebody knows my role or my cast mates and found inspiration from us to be engineers or rocket scientists or martial artists or soldiers or doctors, it’s amazing.”

And for budding creatives, it’s an important place to get some nice recommendation.

“Whatever it is you love, if you’re persistent, and you really, really believe in it and you just want it that bad, you will find a way to make it happen,” voice actor Larry Brantley stated. “We here today are all living proof of that.”

Preparations for subsequent year’s conference are already underway, and Hays promised will probably be again even greater and higher than this year.
